As you view these feathers, it is my hope that these feather paintings will uplift and inspire you. A horse with wings, for example, embodies both the strength and power of the horse and the spiritual, mystical qualities of a bird in flight. Mythological creatures appear alongside commonly beheld animals such as the raven, deer, fox, and horse. I often use metallic oil paint to symbolize the otherworldly nature of wildlife: silver fur, golden feathers, bronze antlers. I also like the historical connotation of the feather as a quill, as a writing or drawing instrument. The figures and landscapes I paint are meant to have a symbolic and otherworldly presence.įeathers are a symbol of transcendence. I chose to paint nature scenes and wildlife on feathers because the natural, ethereal quality of feathers becomes the perfect canvas for embodying the imaginative and intuitive qualities of the spirits of nature. My hope is that my artwork inspires the viewer to appreciate and preserve our natural environment. All of my artwork, in the genres of photography and paintings, are meant to reflect the love of nature that I feel. I’m also a Technology Instructor here at Lake Forest Library. I am a fine artist, graphic designer, photographer, and award-winning poet. Kristin Ashley’s work will be on display at the Lake Forest Library in the library foyer glass cases.

If you want to apply an adjustment to different parts of the same photo (and in different amounts) head back into Adjustments after you’ve applied your first round and reselect the adjustment you want to apply. Apply the same adjustment in different degrees When you’re finished, tap the checkmark in the top right corner of the screen to apply all of your adjustments. A dot will appear by the name of an adjustment you’ve used, so that you can keep track. You can layer adjustments on top of each other without applying them right away. If you want to apply the adjustment to most of your image, but not all of your image, tap the eraser icon and paint the adjustment off with your finger.Īnd hey, all of you iPad people out there, don’t forget that you can use your Apple Pencil to paint your fav stuff on and off, too. Spread your fingers apart on the screen to zoom in and paint the adjustment on with your finger. To paint it onto a specific part of the image, tap the paintbrush icon. To get painting tap the Adjustments button, choose the adjustment you want to use, and adjust the slider to preview how it’s gonna look on your image.
